With my newest installation piece, The Haus Of Luna, I invite my guests to question reality and their perception of the self. Deep symbolism and classical references are woven into the experience as my attempt to open the door to the transcendent. Each room plays with the senses in a unique way: some might make you feel like you’re floating, while others are more grounding.

I began this introspective journey after a year of quarantine, isolation, and restriction. As an artist, I allowed myself to explore with free association in a new way, embracing the possibilities of chance, and allowing myself to create without the boundaries of reality and the conscious mind.

To achieve my vision, I explored surrealist artistic strategies. As a way to bypass my own rational control over creating, I embraced the concept of chance, and I used intentionally jarring and surprising imagery as a way to speak directly to the subconscious. Bright neon colors, shiny surfaces, and varied textures were implemented to stimulate and enhance the senses, as well as to play tricks on the mind with unexpected and illogical juxtapositions. Beyond the tactile, the music and the scents were specifically curated to create a fully enveloping environment that coaxes the guest to go even deeper into the subconscious. In all, The Haus of Luna was an effort in merging human qualities with material properties to navigate abstract space.

For me, The Haus of Luna represents an exploration of self through experiential design. It’s an abstract spatial representation of my mind, interlaced with my memories from living in this special house that marked the beginning of my own self-discovery journey. It’s an expressive mash-up of the rational and the abstract, of waking life and of dreams. The use of color, texture, light, sensorial stimulation, and interactive symbolic content is meant to elevate the senses, creating an experience that frees the mind from the constraints of reality. The Haus of Luna is a physical experience designed to enable the exploration of inner territories, yet undiscovered, in all of us.
